Primary Job Summary

Hoffman & McNamara Company is a stable, progressive, energetic commercial landscape contractor and a wholesale tree nursery, 2nd generation owned and operating since 1977. We primarily service municipalities and various Midwest State departments. Our mechanic keeps our fleet and equipment in good working condition to ensure our landscape and nursery crew members stay safe and on task. We are looking for an individual with the availability to assist our current mechanic 15-40 hours a week that would pride themselves in being part of our skilled and highly regarded organization. This is for an afternoon/evening shift. 

Competitive wage based on experience and qualifications. $17-$22 an hour. We provide all needed tools and training. Great hands-on opportunity for someone looking to start an exciting career.

Specific duties include:

• Assist Mechanic with repairs on small engines, trucks, tractors, irrigation equipment and various agricultural & contracting equipment, both onsite and in the shop.

• Assist with fueling and greasing equipment at the end of each day.

• Assist with unloading and loading equipment and materials from job sites

• Performing safety checks on all trucks, trailers, and unloaded equipment

• Set the prime example of proper operation and care for all H&M owned equipment and tools.

Requirements:

• Working knowledge of the operation of agricultural and contracting equipment.

• Ability to learn proper repair and/or techniques to install equipment, such as cutting, welding,

fitting, aligning, threading, and design & fabricate innovative equipment & tools specific to H&M.

• Knowledgeable of safety procedures.

• Ability to lift 60lbs daily

• Willingness to perform other duties as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• CDL (or the ability and desire to obtain a CDL)

• Interested in or working towards graduation from related diesel technology program or industry experience
